The Surveyor-General and The Cubit of the Sanctuary

This Blog is dedicated to discussing Ezekiel's Temple Complex (ETC) and A Kingdom District (AKD) Vision.
The first consideration we will explore is the length of the unit of measure Ezekiel used in describing this grand facility.
In conjunction with this blog page, please read, Appendix C - Cubit Standard of Measure.

"The measuring-reed which was in the hand of the surveyor-general . . . was six cubits long, reckoning, not by the common cubit, but the cubit of the sanctuary, the sacred cubit, by which it was fit that this holy house should be measured...." Matthew Henry, Commentary on Ezekiel 40

The Surveyor-General might today be called the Chief Project Engineer. And the cubit of the sanctuary could be called the Coded Base Ruler, or the Standard Rule by which this facility of Ezekiel's vision is to be built. Therefore the temple ruler needs to be determined before the designers and project engineers can go to work.

The man that met Ezekiel at the Gate to this facility Ezekiel measured we can assume was an official who knew his way around, had authority to move around without hindrance, and had a working knowledge of the tools he carried with him. One tool was used to measure distance and the another elevation; today we would call these tools the Rod and Tape measure.

The Rod and Tape measure had units described in Hebrew as an Ammah and Two-phach. Typically the Ammah is further divided into Qaph's meaning palm or width of the hand. The Ammah is 5 Qaph long and the Two-phach or length of the hand is 2 Qaph, making the total length of the Qode Base Ruler (QBR) 7 Qaph long. [KBR , CBR or QBR {Hebrew: KeB-awR´= length, a.k.a. code(d) cubit (q)}].

Note: The K, Q and sometimes C English letters have been used to transliterate one Hebrew letter (N/A) into English. It appears that Q is becoming the scholarly standard; however, in the Glossary referenced (linked) above the 'K' was used throughout. The sound of this Hebrew letter (N/A) is used in the English word Code. And it is relevant to note that the English word 'code' has a similar meaning as well as sound to the Hebrew word Kodesh meaning a sacred thing or place used by people; in other words, both these words refer to something that is standard or standardized and can not be changed.

Figure 1 above shows the Koded Base Ruler unit is 25-inches long. THE CUBIT, USED IN ALL BRANCH DESIGN CALULATIONS, IS CODED AS: 25 INCHES LONG or 635 millimeters exactly.

Note: Twenty-five and multiples thereof are used throughout Ezekiel's Temple Complex (ETC), and this should become apparent as this blog is developed further. The first evidence of this fact is in Ezekiel's date reference in the first verse of Chapter 40: "In the five and twentieth (25th) year of our captivity," Eze 40:1

The English have a measurement of length, which they call skein : 109,728 meters. If a man was walk one day, with his every step 1 Sacred Cubit (63,5 cm) and with the speed of two steps in a second (2 Sacred Cubits or 127 cm), in 24 hours he would travel 109,728 km (1.000 skeins). For one year of 365,242 days, he would travel around the planet Earth. That is, he would travel the length of the Equator: 40.077,27418 km: 40.077,27418 x 109,728 = 4.397.599,141 km: Sun around the Equator.

  1. I have known David for over twenty years and he has remained steadfast in the mission of Ezechiel's temple. I have followed with him on his revelatory path and I know he has revealed many here-to-fore undiscovered truths about this amazing structure. As an Architect, I can attest to the depth David has taken his understanding. To me, he is the foremost expert on the temple and it's dynamic import to the coming Kingdom of God.
