Ezekiel 40:2 In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.
Here we find Ezekiel stating that,
while he was being set down on a very high mountain he was able to see a city to the south. Since THE MOUNTAIN, which we describ in another blog, is a large dome 2,000 feet high and nearly 4 miles in diameter, it is imposable for one standing on the top to see the ground around the dome for about 7 miles. So, as Ezekiel was landing on the top of THE MOUNTAIN he noticed A CITY TO THE SOUTH, and it is clear from the original language that this city was beyond THE MOUNTAIN not on the mountain. Later in Ezekiel's writings he defines the location of THE CITY within THE DISTRICT he is describing; and by laying out, i.e. drafting this city as described, it can be seen that THE CITY is indeed 5 to 7 miles south of the center of THE MOUNTAIN which is in the northern HOLY PORTION.

Ezekiel 45:6 And ye shall appoint the possession of the city five thousand (5,000 cubits) broad, and five and twenty thousand (25,000 cubits) long, over against (next to) the oblation of the holy portion: it shall be for the whole house of Israel.
The full description herein clearly shows that this property given over for THE CITY is south of the mountain which is upon THE HOLY PORTION. As we shall see in the 48th chapter of Ezekiel, THE CITY is a profane place, that is, a place set aside for commercial enterprise and commerce, shopping malls, etc; with pasture land, and housing are all around the parimiter of the commercial area.
Ezekiel 48:15 And the five thousand (5,000 cubits), that are left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand (25,000 cubits), shall be a profane place (commercial place) for the city, for dwelling (housing), and for suburbs (pasture land): and the city shall be in the midst (middle) thereof.
THE CITY/FARM sits in the middle of a portion of land 5,000 cubits north-south and 25,000 cubits east-west. Since 2,500 cubits are close to one mile it is easy to calculate that the city/farm area is about 2 miles (3.175 kilometers) by 10 miles (15.875 kilometers) wide. Within this area are: THE CITY, housing, pasture, and THE FARMS; with one farm on East side and one on the West side of THE CITY.
Ezekiel 48:16-17 And these shall be the measures (of the city); the north side four thousand and five hundred (4,500 cubits), and the south side four thousand and five hundred (4,500 cubits), and on the east side four thousand and five hundred (4,500 cubits), and the west side four thousand and five hundred (4,500 cubits). (17) And the suburbs (pasture land) of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty (250 cubits), and toward the south two hundred and fifty (250 cubits), and toward the east two hundred and fifty (250 cubits), and toward the west two hundred and fifty (250 cubits).
In the middle of the 5,000 by 25,000 cubit city/farm area is a square of 4,500 cubits set aside specifically for the city's commercial development. Around this square is a green belt, 250 cubits wide for pasture. This irrigated green belt is typical on the boundaries throughout the area to provide pasture and movement of livestock as required. Adjacent to this pasture, between it an the commercial area, are homes for the residences who work in the city and the farms.
Ezekiel 48:18-19 And the residue in length over against the oblation of the holy portion shall be ten thousand eastward (10,000 cubits), and ten thousand westward (10,000 cubits): and it shall be over against the oblation of the holy portion; and the increase thereof shall be for food unto them that serve the city. (19) And they that serve the city shall serve it out of all the tribes of Israel.
The 10,000 cubit areas on either side of the city are for food, i.e. farm land. Since an acre is very nearly 100 cubits by 100 cubits, the areas on either side of the city, 10,000 cubits, by 5,000 cubits, are (10,000x5,000/100x100) 5,000 acres each.
THE CITY NAME
Using this name as a play on words we find several interesting nuances to this Hebrew word SMMH: a wonderful thing; a visible arch aloft; stunning, wonderful, amazing; hearing, telling, witnessing.
First, shammah, שׁמּה sham-maw' From H8074; ruin; by implication consternation: - astonishment, desolate (-ion), waste, wonderful thing. (RE: Strong's exhaustive Concordance of The Bible; #8047)
Second, shameh, שׁמה shaw-meh' Dual of an unused singular; from an unused root meaning to be lofty; the sky (as aloft; the dual perhaps alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move, as well as to the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve): - air, X astrologer, heaven (-s). (RE: Strong's exhaustive Concordance of The Bible; #8064)
Third, shamem, שׁמם shaw-mame' A primitive root; to stun (or intransitively grow numb), that is, devastate or (figuratively) stupefy (both usually in a passive sense): - make amazed, be astonied, (be an) astonish (-ment), (be, bring into, unto, lay, lie, make) desolate (-ion, places), be destitute, destroy (self), (lay, lie, make) waste, wonder. (RE: Strong's exhaustive Concordance of The Bible; #8074)
Forth, shama, שׁמע shaw-mah' A primitive root; to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, etc.; causatively to tell, etc.):- X=hear attentively, call (gather) together, X carefully, X certainly, consent, consider, be content, declare, X diligently, discern, give ear, (cause to, let, make to) hear (-ken, tell), X indeed, listen, make (a) noise, (be) obedient, obey, perceive, (make a) proclaim (-ation), publish, regard, report, shew (forth), (make a) sound, X surely, tell, understand, whosoever [heareth], witness. (RE: Strong's exhaustive Concordance of The Bible; #8085) 'The Shema' a noun, is the Basic statement of the Jewish faith: "Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is one" (Deut. 6:4). The Shama is a liturgical prayer, prominent in Jewish history and tradition, that is recited daily at the morning and evening services and expresses the Jewish people's ardent faith in and love of god. (definition in part found in several dictionaries)
This City Development Project we named the South Metro Management Habitat (SMMH) project, which might also mean in Hebrew something like:
Impossible Impossible
ReplyDeleteAfter reading AVHM PDF... How could a mounting so 21 miles high exist upon earth? There’s one on Mars Mount Olympus Mons 21 miles high with 50 mile plateau at the top. Earth is around 7000 miles in diameter and around 21000 miles (3X7000) around the equator. Moving at 15 degrees (5X3) per hour taking about 24 hour (3x8) (3X7+3) to rotate on its axis on its axis at 875mph (8+7+5 = 20, 21 - 1 )Hmm coincidence perhaps. The Jubilees has the tower of the Babel at 5433 cubits 8149 feet depending on which cubit you use. 5280 is a mile then plus half again and built by men in the plane of Shinar a mile and half in height. But the Lord, the king of kings gets a 2000 foot hill.
Trying to make Ezekiel's sanctuary fit the current evil age produces fruit of this kind where holy hill's must fit man's designs. But if one has faith one will say unto this mountain be cast into the midst of the sea... But again another web site where one needs “approval” by moderators....seems everyone wants to "cloister" still...
Sorry Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be stuck on the size of the "Hill". Please, read Isaiah 2:1-5. In this important "LAST DAY" passage you will find that 'The Mountain of YHWH' is not compared with 'earth mountains' but with Governmental Hills, like Washington DC. You are certainly right about our 'evil age' and the difficulties we have to face together. Yet, in Ezekiel 43, we, that is those of us who are called to work on this project (and that is all-of-us), are instructed to; "...shew the house to the house of Israel..."
There three purposes for the 'needs' for 'approval' as you call this:
We find the first in Ezekiel 43, where the House of Israel needs to 'approve' "that they may be ashamed of their iniquities."
The second is to be found in Isaiah 45:8-13 where you find the purpose of YHWH for 'man' is that he might live "righteously..." and "...build My City".
The third need for approval by moderators is that one person can not build a city, much less a mountain capital, by himself, nor can "righteousness pour down" upon one person only. "...let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD YHWH have created it." Isaiah 45:8
This takes us back to Ezekiel 34:10-12 where righteousness is explained in terms of this project; Thou son of man, shew the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities: and let them measure the pattern. And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them. This is the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house."
