A Path to Peace -- THE MOUNTAIN Mission Statement

RE: Isaiah 2:1-5
Please Note: the following word for word narrative quote (from the 2,500 year old book of Isaiah, chapter 2) logically brakes down into contemporary Project Planning Format:

FROM: "The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning
TO: Judah and Jerusalem
TIME: And it shall come to pass in the last days, that
SUBJECT/OBJECT: THE MOUNTAIN of the LORD'S house (YHWH'S HOUSE) shall be

GOALS:

  1. Establish in the top of the mountains, and shall be
  2. exalt above the hills; and
  3. all nations shall flow unto it.

PROCESSES: And many people shall go and say,

  1. Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD YHWH, to the house of the God of Jacob; and
  2. he will teach us of his ways, and
  3. we will walk in his paths: for
  4. out of Zion shall go forth the law, and
  5. the word of the LORD YHWH from Jerusalem.
  6. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall
  7. beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks:
BENEFITS: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

CC: O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD YHWH." (Isaiah 2:1-5)

The phrase "in the last days" is often misunderstood. We won't attempt to catalog all the popular notions about "the last days" but simply say that most of them don't address THE MOUNTAIN or YHWH's House

Lets examine briefly; What is THE MOUNTAIN and what is YHWH'S HOUSE? Then in the next blog we will explore, When are the last days?

We find this MOUNTAIN and YHWH'S HOUSE mentioned in Ezekiel's vision: (Ezekiel 40:2)  In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.

Here we fine Ezekiel, while touring A Very High Mountain (AVHM), measures and describes YHWH'S HOUSE. (RE: Ezekiel 40-48) Therefore, it is compelling to intertwine Isaiah 2:1-5 with Ezekiel 40-48. Also we find a third strand is woven into this thread, and that is Micah 4:1-8.

Note:
  1. AVHM is referred to by both Ezekiel and Isaiah as a physical object (Ez. 40:2Is. 2:2).
  2. Isaiah sees this object as needing to be established (Is. 2:2), and Ezekiel sees it as just completed (Ez. 43:5) yet he states that it is a 'vision' (Ez. 40:2), that is, something for the future, i.e. the last days?
  3. Ezekiel landed upon the top of AVHM and this is where he found YHWH's House (Ezekiel 40+), Isaiah stands at a distance and says, "Come, let us go up..." (Is. 2:3)
  4. Jacob, who was the father of the tribes of Israel (Gen 48-48), is referred to directly by Isaiah 2:5, and the same tribes are referred to in memorial by Ezekiel (chapter 48).
Micah 4:6-7 adds another dimension, an outcome that will interest the underdog and their supporters. "In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;  (7)  And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever."

Our conclusion then is that Isaiah, Ezekiel and Micah prophecy of a day when:
  1. The mountain of YHWH would be established
  2. It would be a very high mountain
  3. The House of YHWH would be build upon the mountains top
  4. The glory and leadership of YHWH would occupy this facility
  5. Other facilities would be associated with the mountain, i.e. a city to the South.
  6. Jerusalem and the Jews are key players, and other tribes of Jacob are involved too.
  7. All nations will submit to the leadership of YHWH to bring about an end to war, and the waste associated with war.
This three strand rope is not easy broken. It compels one to ask, "When does this take place?" And one might ask too, "What are we waiting for?" What are your questions? When are THE LAST DAYS?
